Crossings Notes

Luke 13:12

Total disregard for the freedom given the women.

A new way to do life, a new shape of life. A new way to look at life… See the following verses parables:

Mustard seed.
Yeast in the dough.

The smallest of things planted, can have phenomenal impact and influence.

Luke 14:

Regardless of the circumstance, compassion was, is a reflex. Is it that way for me?
The shape of the new community is about humility, not pride.

Going back to the story behind the story: Isaiah 25:6

“6 On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare
a feast of rich food for all peoples,
a banquet of aged wine-
the best of meats and the finest of wines.”

ALL PEOPLE.

Other Jewish translations seem to alter the interpretation… No blind, blemished, non-Jews would be included.

Why was there this re-interpretation?

Your mess is no bigger and no less significant than anyone else’s mess. The ground is truly level at the foot of the cross.

At the banquet… The invited guests refuse to attend, so others are invited…

“Compel them to come…”

Reprocess anger with grace….
Grace doesn’t make sense…. Which is why we feel like we can’t attend the banquet. “they’re just inviting me for a play….”

Come as you are…

Questions:

What are my ridiculous excuses?
What are reinterpretations of the banquets?
What does it mean to be a Luke 14 church?
